BECOME A HOST ORGANIZATION

The Faiths Act Fellows program offers a select set of organizations the opportunity to host two talented young leaders as they devote 10 months of their lives to mobilizing young people of diverse faiths in raising awareness and funding to help eradicate deaths due to malaria. For the selected organizations, this will be an opportunity to expand on their existing interfaith social action or international development work and play a critical role in engaging diverse faith communities to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

Who Can Be a Host Organization

In order to be eligible, the organization’s work must already prioritize interfaith social action or the engagement of faith communities in international development. Organizations whose mission and work do not closely align with this project will not be considered. Organizations must have the human, physical and technological resources to host and manage two full-time Fellows from late September 2009, through late May 2010.

What is Expected of Host Organizations

  • Participation in the host organization selection process
  • Orientation to the organization and its work and as-requested transfer of information as it pertains to the Faiths Act Fellows’ job responsibilities
  • A direct supervisor who meets semi-monthly with the Fellows team and quarterly with an Interfaith Youth Core project associate to report verbally on successes and troubleshoot challenges
  • Integration of the Fellows into the organizational culture, ideally including access for the Fellows to appropriate all-staff functions, including many staff meetings
  • A written year end evaluation and participation in a closing evaluation interview
  • Maintenance of positive fiscal and legal standing, including adherence to personnel and organizational policies

What the Faiths Act Fellows Program Provides

  • A flat contract payment to off-set costs incurred by hosting organizations
  • Payment of Fellows’ stipends and health care
  • Laptop computers and cellular phones for Fellows; internet headsets and cameras for Fellows and host organization supervisors to facilitate international communication
  • Intensive training and support for Fellows, including a two-month immersion program beginning in August 2009, monthly one-on-one and team calls and a debrief and evaluation program in May 2010
  • Ongoing support services for host organizations through quarterly and as-needed calls with host supervisor
  • Monitoring, reporting, media and impact evaluation for Faiths Act Fellows program
  • Support for international travel arrangements and other major logistical considerations
  • Policies and procedures to guide program operations and Fellows’ relationships with host organizations and other partners
  • Responsibility and responsiveness for legal issues that may arise in relation to the Fellows or the Faiths Act Program
